Small Copper Sugar Skull Necklace

£25.00

One of the most iconic and colourful items seen during Day of the Dead is the sugar skull or Calavera. These skulls, which can come in different sizes, are traditionally made of sugar and are decorated with icing to be fun and colourful. Some even have feathers, glitter, hats, or other objects attached to make them more personal. See my About section for more information on this fascinating tradition.

Historically, copper has been used to keep the body healthy and to enhance positive energy. It is also said to improve mental health, joint stiffness and pain, mineral absorption and a healthier immune system. It can also uplift a person spiritually.

The skull measures approx. 22mm x 17mm. The ball chain is sterling silver and attached with sterling silver jump rings. The necklace length is 18 inches with an adjuster to wear it slightly shorter.

This necklace has been handmade by me cut from a sheet of copper using a piercing saw and then hand stamped using traditional methods. Each necklace will be different as they are hand cut and hand stamped so please allow for slight variations in the design.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Each necklace will be different as they are individually hand cut and hand stamped so please allow for slight variations in the design.

Please note that sometimes the acidic nature of human sweat and other chemicals on the skin, such as soaps, lotions and makeup, can react with copper and cause a green patina or surface coating to form on the copper and transfer onto the skin. This occurs as a normal reaction to the prolonged copper exposure on the skin, typically caused by oxidation and is not dangerous. Any marks can be removed with soap and water and the jewellery can be restored with a quick polish. If you have any problems, please do let me know.

My items are inspired by Victorian memento mori and Mexican sugar skulls and more information about this can be found in my About section. If you have any questions please feel free to message me.
