Sugar Skull Earrings

These copper & silver sugar skull earrings are inspired by one of the most iconic and colourful items seen during Day of the Dead – the sugar skull or Calavera. These skulls, which can come in different sizes, are traditionally made of sugar and are decorated with icing to be fun and colourful. Some even have feathers, glitter, hats, or other objects attached to make them more personal. See my About section for more information on this fascinating tradition.

The silver and copper sugar skull earrings measure approx. 22mm x 17mm and they are suspended from sterling silver fish hook style earrings. They are available in sterling silver, shiny or matt copper.

These earrings have been handmade by me cut from a sheet of metal using a piercing saw and then hand stamped using traditional methods. Each pair will be different as they are hand cut and hand stamped so please allow for slight variations in the design.

Copper has been used and recycled by people for thousands of years. Around 89% of all the copper we’ve ever dug from the ground in the last 6000 years is still in circulation: it just gets melted back down and reused again and again and again! Because it does not degrade during recycling, copper in use today could well have been made into objects thousands of years ago.

Historically, copper has been used to keep the body healthy and to enhance positive energy. It is also said to improve mental health, joint stiffness and pain, mineral absorption and a healthier immune system. It has been said to be both anti-bacterial and anti-viral, it can reduce inflammation and be an energy booster. It is supposed to aid self-expression and psychic communication and attract positivity, wealth, and luck!

My jewellery is inspired by different cultures, ancient history and memento mori. More information about this can be found in my About section. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me.
