This piece takes its name—and spirit—from the Latin memento mori, a phrase that echoes through time as both a warning and a blessing. It urges us to live fully, fiercely, as if each breath could be the last.
Emerging in the 16th and 17th centuries, memento mori was more than just philosophy; it became tangible—tokens, talismans, jewellery—reminders of mortality, and quiet tributes to those we’ve lost.
At the heart of this ring sits my own interpretation of that age-old memento mori symbol: a tiny skull, around 7mm x 5mm, sculpted to honour the beautiful brevity of life.
