New year, new jewellery business goals!

Happy new year! Is it still OK to say that 12 days in?

Have you set any intentions or resolutions for 2025? Historically, I’ve found they don’t work for me from a personal perspective but from a business point of view I love them.

As it’s that time of year where I put together my jewellery business plans, I thought I’d share them with you. I love my customers knowing why I do what I do, and my business goals inform a huge part of the passion for this business.

If you don’t already know every year I pick a word for my business. This year the word is

This is because, put simply, I want to grow my business. I’ll come back to how I’m going to do that shortly.

Last year my word was ‘creative’. I was in the midst of my silver diploma and wanted to channel my creativity into producing some new and interesting pieces with the new skills I was learning. I think I achieved that successfully. Well, the certificate says I did 😉

The year before was ‘learning’. During that year I signed up for my diploma as I learnt that you have to invest in yourself if you want to progress. Again, that was a resounding success!

You can see that picking a word for the year really focuses me. But back to 2025 and the year of growth!

I have been running Rock & Rose for almost 4 years now (can you believe it?!) and I realised that this financial year I might make a profit which is amazing. Making a profit in your 3rd year of trading is spot on for a jewellery business.

It might not be a massive profit but it’s going in the right direction which lead me to choosing my word. Growth! I want to grow more and make this a successful business.

Luckily for me the wonderful Jewellers Academy doesn’t just teach jewellery making courses they also have a 1 year business academy which has just started this week. I have enrolled and already I’m working on my first month which is all about Vision and Goal Setting.

I thought I’d share my draft vision and get your input as my customers. What I do is about what you want from me. I started this business with a passion that I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted in the shops. I realised my customers are those that can’t either.

my vision

  • I want to create gothic-inspired delicate jewellery.
  • I am driven by a passion for history and mystery and showcasing that in my jewellery.
  • I want to create delicate jewellery with an edge that is not only beautiful but also meaningful.
  • I am dedicated myself to pushing the boundaries of traditional jewellery design, combining the elegance of silver and copper with the alluring mystery of the unknown.
  • I want to make my customer journey easy by helping them find exactly what they want.

What do you think? I’ve love to have your thoughts so do leave me a comment or send me an email.

I’m also planning my year ahead and it’s been divided into 4 quarters January to March, April to June, July to September and October to December. I’ve been ask to identify my aims for each quarter. I’ll share my first one with you

Q1 - WEDDING FAIRS

I have two wedding fairs happening this quarter and this is a whole new arena for me. I’m very excited too!

I have no idea what to expect as the last wedding fair I went to was years ago when Ed and I were planning our wedding. There were no local alternative wedding fairs then, so I think it’s amazing that there are so many different options around the UK now.

I’ll be at the following so if you’re planning a wedding and need some jewellery, please do pop down and say hi.

Witchy Wedding Fayre
The Scotsman Hotel, Edinburgh
15 February 2025

Alternative Wedding Fair
Manchester Monastery, Gorton Lane, Manchester
9 March 2025

I’ve already made some bespoke pieces for weddings and would love to try some more! The rest of my year provisionally looks like this

  • Q2 – launch a new collection
  • Q3 – improve photography
  • Q4 – add to Halloween and Christmas pieces and markets

I won’t go into details yet as I like to keep some mystery but do message me if you’d like to know more now.

I’d also like your input into my year. What do you want to see me make and do? Also, I’ve love to know if you have a word of year too?

Drop me a line and let me know 2025 is going to look like for you.
