Welcome to my blog! This month’s blog post is going to be a bit of mixed bag. Firstly, I’m going to talk about my latest mine visit and then introduce you to my newest items and upcoming jewellery. Finally, I’ll give you some more info about upcoming events I’ve got booked in.
It’s September but as far as I’m concerned, it’s Autumn as soon as PSL’s appear in Starbucks! It could be 100 degrees outside and I’m still swigging those bad boys as soon as they’re released and this year it was 25 August! 😀
ANOTHER MINE VISIT
This weekend I went back to Alderley Edge Copper Mines and had a tour down Engine Vein again with the fantastic Derbyshire Caving Club at their open weekend. I’ve not done this mine section yet, so I was really excited.
Engine Vein hasn’t been open since the pandemic but it’s brilliant because you can really see the different geological layers and deposits. At about an hour it’s a quick trip for those of you who want to see the mines but don’t want to spend ages underground. There’s less crawling around too!
They also had the museum open which was really interesting as you can see exactly what’s been found and how they did it. If you get a chance do pop along! DCC have open days twice a year in both April and September. If you’re as fascinated by mines as me you can read about my other adventures at Alderley Edge here and my visit to The Great Orme Bronze Age Copper Mine.
THE PUMPKINS ARE BACK BABY!
You may have seen on my social media or website that my copper pumpkin necklaces are back! Heralding Autumn like the PSL season these gorgeous little copper pumpkins are handmade by me from copper clay. Last year I was featured on the ‘And So To Shop’ website and I put together a tutorial for Kernowcraft on how to make them.
My pumpkins are all individually handmade and fired from copper clay in my new kiln. Find them on my website here.
UPCOMING EVENTS & NEW JEWELLERY
As it’s officially the ‘ber’ months I am looking towards Halloween when I’ll have a stall at Whitby Goth Weekend, and I can’t wait. I attended the April weekend, and it was fun, but this is the BIG one and it’ll be proper spooky as it’s the weekend before Halloween.
I’m working on some spooky gothic jewellery for Whitby Goth Weekend which won’t be available until then, but you can find out more by signing up to my newsletter as you’ll get sneak peeks.
On 28 August I had a stall at Rockwich Festival in Northwich which was epic! Did you visit me there? I sold lots of jewellery and met some fantastic people. If you bought something from me then please do leave me a review on Trustpilot or Google.
I’ll be back at Rockwich next year and for the late May bank holiday 2023 I’ve signed up for a stall at the Breaking Bands Festival in Bromsgrove (near Birmingham). I hope to attend a few more rock and goth festivals next year so keep yourself updated on my stockist and events web page.
AND FINALLY....
Have you been following ‘All That Glitters’ on BBC? I have and I love it. Last week they made spinner rings, and this is something I’ve been meaning to add to my collection for a while after I did a workshop in Liverpool. Here’s the one I made.
 What do you think?
If there is anything else you’d like me to add to my repertoire just let me know. I am planning to upskill in 2023 so drop me an email with your suggestions for jewellery you’d like me to learn how to make.
I’m off to Florida on 2 October so I may not have a blog post next month, but you can follow my adventures on social media instead
